Indiana Finishes Second on Patoka

After three long, hot, blue bird sky days, Indiana takes Second Place to Wisconsin but surpasses Iowa and the rest of the field at the 2005 Northern Divisional Tournament on Patoka Lake. Although this might depress some anglers hoping to see Indiana win on the home lake, the competition was fierce, and our team overcame a third place finish and 10 lb lead on the first day. To come within striking distance reducing the lead by 9 pounds with a second place finish on the second day, only to lose by a mere 12 ounces in the end.

Indiana Anglers take Second Place at
2005 Northern Divisional on Patoka Lake

The bite was extremely tough and only 1 angler out of all the competitors managed a limit on the first day, no other limits or 4 fish bags were to be seen the rest of the tournament. The fish fed heavily on the second practice day during and after the torrential down pour Tuesday, and again Wednesday, the final day of practice, as the creeks poured water in and raised the water by three inches. After that, the sun came out and the humidity, barometer, and lock jaw were the only thing on the rise. Day 1 only 42 anglers out of 96 managed to cross the weigh in stage, followed by 38 on day 2 after a 1 hour and 45 minute fog delay, finally 32 on day 3. The only bite that anyone heard was consistent was the one from 8 pm to 4am and unfortunately for the Teams that was not the time BASS chose as the official tournament hours.
