Fellow Anglers,

The Zone 1 District 3 is now in books. Eleven teams competed in the tournament that was conducted on Lake Wawasee. Saturday started with overcast and calm conditions with very light sprinkling rain in the morning, At the conclusion of day1, 188 fish came across the scales totaling 318.63 pounds. Jason Fulford of Strike Zone had the day 1 lead with a five fish limit of 16.36 pounds and a kicker that tipped the scales at 4.77 pounds. Jason took Big Bass honors for Day 1 and a check for $440.00. Flight 1 came in at 2:00 p.m. and all 22 boats in the 1st flight were weighed in and loaded up by 2:30. We would like to thank Dick Evans and Harold Richardson from Wawasee Hawg Hunters for handling the release boat for both days. With the conclusion of the 2nd flight weigh in, rain and cold winds hit the area. This did not dim the attitiudes of the Whitaker family who processed the weigh in slips. We greatly appreciate all the help from all the volunteers and clubs who mad day 1 seem effortless. After day 1, Strike Zone had a slight lead over Ye Olde Tackle Shop for total team weights.

Day 2 brought a slight 5 mph wind that helped the bite. Warmer temps stableized the lake for a better bite (hopefully).. At the end of day 2, another monumental weigh in was going to occur. A total of 179 fish crossed the scales for a total weight of 305.02 pounds, Jason Fulford crossed the scales with 11.87 pounds to take the individual win with a total weight of 28.23 lbs for the tournament and a check for $100.00. Congratulations to Jason for his accomplishment. Big Bass honors for the day went to Lyle (aka Joe) Hammond with a monster bass weighing in at 5.70 for day 2 Big Bass honors and a check for $440.00. Good job to Joe.

Travis Edgar came across the scales as the top Ranger Cup contender ending up in 2nd place with 18.56 lbs. Documentation will be send forward for Travis to claim the funds.

All in all, it was a great tournament, The attachment in Excel format contains the team listings for all competitors. The individual information for the top 11 qualifiers will be sent D1 Zone 4 representative Paul Hollobaugh for compilation of all districts. Please make a note that the State Finals will be held on Lake Wawasee on July 18th and 19th. Please let Paul or I know if your team can assist at the tournament.

Again thank everyone that volunteered and assisted in the tournament.

Cordially
