OHIO RIVER ROCKY POINT TOURNAMENT
2004 Newsletter No. 3
July 25, 2004
We had our fourth tournament of the 2004 Indiana Bass Federation Trial on Sunday, July 25, 2004 at Rocky Point Marine on the Ohio River. Practice was Friday and Saturday when the weather was clear and hot. But Sunday, tournament day, the weather was cloudy all day with light showers and cooler temperatures.
Weigh in
We would like to give a special thanks to our tournament sponsor Solar Bat Sunglasses. Gary and Lisa have been great sponsors of our circuit for years. There support is greatly appreciated. It also helps that they make the best sunglasses for fishing on the market.
Take off was at 5:30 Sunday morning and the first flight was due back at 2:30 p.m. Like we always say - somebody always catches fish. On the Co-angler side Cy Haxton was the man. Cy had three fish weighing 4.82 pounds.

Second was Allen Boyd with three fish weighing 4.66 pounds. In third place was Kevin Keltner who only had one fish but it weighed 4.60 pounds. Fourth was Corey Pasley with four fish weighing 4.38 pounds and fifth was Larry Myers with four fish weighing 3.94 pounds. As the scales showed the top five was a tight finish.
Angler Winners: Larry Sisk, Marty Sisk, Mark Dove and Kelly Hook (3rd place)
Kevin Keltner's one fish also earned him Big Bass on the Co-angler side. He just barely missed the Progressive Big Bass Pot of five pounds. The Progressive Big Bass Pot for the Co-Angler side will be around $1,500.00 for the Monroe Tournament on August 22nd, so all you Co-Anglers find an Angler and get to Monroe.
For the Co-Angler the road to the Classic starts with Jason Murray with 348 points, second is Joe Valles with 339 points, third is Steve Littrell with 324 points, fourth is Walter Pedigo with 312 points and finishing out the top five is Charlie Kuebler with 302 points. After four tournaments 40th place points is now David Miller with 150 points. Making the Classic is still wide open.
Co-Angler Winners: Cyril Haxton, Allen Boyd, Kevin, Keltner and Larry Myers
The winner of the Solar Bat Invitational for 2004 is Larry Sisk. Larry had one of the six limits at the tournament. His total weight was 9.12 pounds. Larry is one of the hottest fishermen on the Indiana circuit right now. Great job Larry!
Finishing second was Marty Sisk with another limit at 8.12 pounds. That is the first 1-2 finish of a father-son in the Indiana Bass Federation Tournament Trail that I can remember. Curt Hughes had third nailed down with five fish at 7.20 pounds and fourth was Mark Dove with five fish weighing in at 6.3 pounds. Kelly Hook had only three fish but they weighed 5.78 pounds which was good for a fifth place finish. Kelly Hook also won Big Bass with one of his fish weighing in at 3.78 pounds. Progressive Big Bass at Monroe on August 22nd will be around $3,000.00. That is for one fish!
The points leader is now Kelly Hook with 349 points. Scott Bateman slipped to second with 343 points which puts him only six points behind the leader. Paul Jones keeps coming up the points ladder and now is at third with 334 points. Fourth is Mark Dove with 320 points and fifth is Terry McWilliams with 321 points. Angler of the Year is still anyone's race. Larry Sisk with the win at this tournament moved to the 40th spot with 183 points. A lot of guys still have a great shot at the Classic.
There were a lot of fish caught at this tournament and both the Anglers and Co-anglers did a great job fishing. The Classic on both the Anger and Co-angler is still open so come fish and get in the Classic for a chance at one of the two Ranger boat packages.
See you at Monroe on August 21 and 22, 2004. Don't forget about those big bucks for the Progressive Big Bass Pots.
