On the morning of November 3rd, fifteen clubs showed up at Patoka, to compete for the title of 2007 Champion.
The early morning air was crisp and foggy, but with the professionals we had participating, everyone used the utmost caution during the take off.
The day turned out to be beautiful and the fishing wasn't all that bad either. In all, twelve of the teams managed to bring in 23 fish weighing 54.18 pounds, working out to 2.356 pound average. Terry Bell and George Cox, from Morgan-Monroe Bass Masters, ended up with the top spot, with 4 fish weighing 13.00 lbs. They also managed to get one good bite to hold on to claim big bass honors with one that went 4.10 pounds. Second place went to Bruce Manion and Berry Kinser of South Central Bass Anglers with 3 fish that went 7.5 pounds. Third was grabbed by Todd Martin and Chris Swaim, from Sycamore Bass Club with 3 fish and a total of 6.6 pounds. Forth place went to the team of Tim Guard and Russ Zoller, with 2 that stopped the scales at 4.10 pounds. Fifth place was occupied by Central Indiana Angler's Michael Klingler and Dennis Swalls, with 2 fish weighing 4.00 pounds even.
Fish seemed to have come from all ends of the lake with shallow water being the preferred pattern. I would like to thank everyone that came down and fished with us and all the clubs in Zone 2 for being the professionals they are. I would also like to thank Ed O'Conner. He stepped up that morning and volunteered his truck when mine broke down on the way to the lake that morning. After a hasty trip back to Plainfield with my truck and boat and a short visit with a highway patrolman outside of Orleans, we finally made it to the lake.
With Russ Zoller and Ed there, everything went very smooth and we look forward to next years tournament.
