Indiana Bass Federation Youth – Conservation – Fishing
What a weigh-in!
The Indiana Southeastern, Zone 4, District 10, Top-8 was held on May 21, 22, 2011. The tournament was held at Rocky Point on the Ohio River. The dates were changed due to the flooding of the river in late April and early May. There were ten of the 11 clubs competing for the top prize and the State Finals.
The winning team, Rolling Hills Bass Masters, Darrel Burbridge, Kayla Cave, Kenny Cave, Ethan Hill, Seth Hill, Bruce McIntosh and Elvin Shinolt. The 7 of them together had a 2 day total of 45.13lbs. Elvin Shinolt was there leading weight producer with a 2 day total of 12.04lbs putting him in 2nd place for the weekend. Kenny Cave was also a big producer with 10.17lbs for a 2 day total and putting him in 5th place for the weekend. Good job Guys- and Gal!
It was a beautiful weekend for fishing until the 2nd day weigh-in. As the competitors began to line up for the weigh-in, there were some of us that believed the world was coming to an end. Reports later that night stated that with all of the lightning in a 30min period Rocky Point received 3.25 inches of rain and had a funnel cloud a quarter mile away with sustained winds of 50 and 60 miles per hour. There was no one or nothing left dry. Still with tarps that were put up earlier for a little 10 mile an hour breeze to prevent any complications, it also prevented any problems through the storm.
