In partnership with visitmadison.org and Jefferson County Indiana I am happy to announce: The 2016 IBF Invitational Tournament, Forrest L. Wood Classic will be held at Madison, Indiana on October 15 & 16.
If you plan on bringing your family to the classic there are many activities for everyone. A brief history from the visitmadison.org states:
“Settled in 1809, Madison achieved 19th century prominence with the arrival of the steamboat and brisk river trade. Times were lively, the community prospered, beautiful buildings and homes were constructed and society blossomed. The arrival of the railroad and the decline of the steamboat era stemmed the boom and Madison slipped into a century of slumber. What appeared to be Madison’s misfortune was to become Madison’s legacy.
Recognized as “The prettiest small town in the Midwest” by Ladies Home Journal and “Best Preserved Town in the Midwest” by the Chicago Tribune, Madison boast the largest historic district in Indiana and the largest contiguous National Historic Landmark District in the US. There are over 133 blocks on the National Register of Historic Places and 3 National Historic Landmarks.”
Please visit www.visitmadison.org for additional information.
The top 40 anglers and co-anglers in points are invited to the Forrest L. Wood Classic. The first and second place finishers of the Top 8s are also invited. Places 1-10 in the standings receive a free entry into the classic. Places 11-20 will pay $50 – angler, $25 – co-angler entry fees; places 21-30 will pay $100 – angler, $ 50 co-angler entry fees; places 31-40 and top 8 qualifies will pay $150 – angler, $75 – co-angler entry fee.
Last year’s Classic payout was $8,000 cash and a $5,000 Ranger boat certificate to Paul Jones as the winning angler. Kenneth Smith was awarded $4,000 cash and a $2,500 Ranger boat certificate as the winning co-angler.
A banquet is planned for Saturday evening. The banquet is free for the anglers and co-anglers. Spouses, girlfriends, etc. may attend at a price to be determined.
If there is enough family interest we are working on setting up activities for your guest on Saturday and Sunday while you are fishing.
I look forward to having a great classic this year.
