Indiana Bass Federation Youth – Conservation – Fishing
Danny was a member of the Fishers of Men Indiana North, White River Bass Masters, Indiana Bass Federation, Anglers Choice Indiana Division.
Danny’s life was cut short at the age of 53 in February 2023 due to a battle with cancer. Danny achieved many accomplishments in bass fishing. Danny left behind many loved ones and close friends and if you talked to any of them, Danny’s true passion was fishing. Danny’s last hope was to leave a fishing legacy.
His family, friends and Fishers of Men National Tournament Trail Indiana North Division have put together a scholarship to help Danny’s legacy of fishing live on. This scholarship is open to a high senior graduating in 2024 and pursing a 2 or 4-year post-secondary degree, technical (trades) degree or certificate. This scholarship will be paid directly to the school upon the request of the recipient under the Danny Spratt Memorial Scholarship.
This scholarship is open to any high school anglers who fished the previous 4 years (’20 – ’23) or event(s) in held by Fishers of Men Indiana Divisions, White River Bass Masters, Indiana Bass Federation Adult or Youth Divisions, or Anglers Choice Indiana Divisions. Or has an immediate family member (parent, grandparent or sibling) fishing one of these divisions the previous four years.
Preference will go to a high school angler that participated in one of these clubs and based on need. Recipient will be notified through high school guidance office of award. Scholarship Amount: (2) $500 scholarships will be awarded. Scholarship will be paid directly to the school towards fees related a 2 or 4-year post-secondary degree, technical (trades) degree or certificate. Payment will be not be paid directly to student or parent. In the event first semesters payment is covered in full, payment will be made in a subsequent semester with a balance in first two years.
Student must request in writing for release of payment with proof of semester invoice, student identification number and registrar address for payment submission. Form for request will be given at time of scholarship awarded. A representative or family member of Danny Spratt will plan to be attend senior scholarship awards program to present winners.
Essay Requirements: one-page, single spaced with 1” margins on all side in Arial or Time Romans font, sized 10 type. Title Page must include the following: Name, High School, Essay Title and Date of Submission. Essay Topics (Choice of one) Bass Fishing has impacted my life in the following three ways (or) The importance of the outdoors has taught me these three things.
Essay must be postmarked by Friday, March 29th, 2024 to be considered.
