2012 IBF Invitational at Patoka

The 2012 Indiana Bass Federation Invitational Trail is almost complete with the last of the qualifier tournaments being completed Sunday September 23, at Patoka Reservoir.

The day started out with a 90 minute fog delay as the cool air was warmer than the water. The fog burned off and it turned into a very beautiful southern Indiana day.

The fishing was very tough as none of the  42 Anglers and 41 Co-Anglers could put together a complete limit of bass.  Congratulations to all.

Doug Ruster was able to repeat his Monroe win with 4 Patoka bass weighing 12.42 lbs.

Mike Quinlin was close behind with two bass nice bass weighing 10.60.  Mike’s 5.92 lb. bass was also big bass of the event. Rounding out the top 5, were  TJ Edwards 9.68, John Guidry 9.28 and Paul Jolly with 8.42

Allen Boyd was first out of the money with 7.28  Alan won a nice rod from A2O Boating supplies and a $20.00 gift from Denali Custom Fishing Rods.

Co-Anglers were led by Don Mohr with 5.86 lbs. followed close behind by Patrick Brown with 2 for 5.05 lbs.   Third place and big bass went to Tyler Mosier,  4.40 lbs.  James Stone was 4th with 4.34 and Ben Laughlin completed the top 5 with one weighing 3.40 lbs.

First out of the money was Fred Crawford, this won him a nice rod from A2O and a $20.00 gift from Denali Custom Rods.

The complete results are attached. Also attached are the Angler of the Year results.

Congratulation to Mike Quinlin who captured his first IBF Angler of the Year. Mike had two solid bass for a second place finish. Those points move him ahead of rest of the field.

The Co-Angler division was topped by Tyler Mosier. Tyler’s third place finish at the Patoka event propelled him into first place.

Both of these anglers will be recognized at the Indiana Bass Federation Forrest L. Wood Classic to be held on Geist Reservoir in Indianapolis on October 6 and 7th.

The top 40 finishing Anglers and Co-Anglers will be joined by 8 Anglers and 8 Co-Angler from the Top 8  series to fish for the Classic championship and a large cash purse. The Angler champion at the Classic will be awarded over $8000.00 and a certificate for $5000.00 toward the purchase of a Ranger boat.

The Co-Anglers will be fishing for more than $4,000.00,  the classic will pay 5 places on each side.

All of the points are being checked and invitations are being sent out to the qualifiers.

Remember to support the businesses who support us. Without support of the sponsors we could not compete for these type of purses as their donations help pay expenses leaving more for the payout.       Hope to see you all at the Classic. Pray for good weather and a safe tournament.

Proud to be your tournament director, Kenny Swint
